The Hisense TV red light blinks 3 times; it indicates that the internal circuit board of the TV is facing an issue. It can be either the power cables are damaged, the HDMI is unstable or misfitted, or the firmware needs to be updated.

You might see that after you power on the TV, the red light is blinking 3 times, and there is no picture on the screen, even if you are unable to hear any audio. Now, there are multiple reasons behind the red light blinking. The LED panel may have been damaged, or there can be an excess power surge.

To fix the Hisense TV red light blinking 3 times, start with checking the power supply cable, and if it is damaged, replace it and get a new one.

If you are still determining whether it is a software or hardware problem, then let’s walk you through the fixes that will help you to solve the problem.

5 Ways to Fix – Hisense TV Red Light Blinks 3 Times

The most basic solution is to power cycle your TV. This will eliminate all the glitches and bugs that the TV has encountered.

To Power cycle the TV – if the TV blinks red 3 times, turn off your TV, unplug the cables from the power outlet, and leave it for 1 to 2 minutes. Now, keep pressing the power button for another 30 seconds. This will drain the excess energy. Plug in the cables and turn on the Hisense TV. You will notice the red light blinking has been fixed.

    Reset the Hisense TV

This is considered to be the most trouble-free solution. You can try either a Hard reset or a Soft reset of the TV to fix any error. The Hard reset will take your TV back to its factory default settings. While the Soft reset would eliminate the minor glitches without deleting your saved data, account, etc.

To Soft Reset – Press and hold the Power button on your remote. The TV will turn off, and you have to wait for 5-6 minutes. Turn on the TV and go to Settings > System > Restart. Again, restart the TV to confirm your action, and this will reset the TV.

To Hard Reset – Turn off the TV and then turn it on after waiting for 30 seconds. Go to the Homepage > Settings > Device Preferences > Reset. Confirm your action by selecting Reset Everything. This would delete all the previous settings, and your TV would be good as new.

Check whether the backlights are defective

The red light blinking 3 times also indicates that there is a defective LED rail due to the passage of excessive voltage. So, verify whether the backlight is defective.

Keep your TV plugged into the power outlet and keep pressing the power button. Now, take a flashlight and point it at the TV screen. If you can see the reflection from the flashlight, then the backlights are functional.

However, if you see blurry images, then the backlight is defective. You must always consider an expert’s help to replace the TV backlights. We would recommend power cycling the TV before you proceed with this process. Also, do not go for cheap LED replacement. Always opt for a compatible and authorized LED panel.

    Verify the internet connection

If the red light is blinking 3 times and you can see no picture on the TV, then check whether the connection is stable. It is likely that your TV has been disconnected from the network. So, start by plugging the cables of the TV into the power outlet and check whether the TV is getting a proper connection.

Next, go to the TV settings and reset the Wi-Fi connection. This would help the router to automatically connect with your TV. Now, reconnect the TV to the Wi-Fi and check whether the red light blinking has stopped.

Upgrade the firmware of the Hisense TV

Outdated firmware of the Hisense TV can also lead to red light blinking thrice. So, check if the firmware is updated or not. Use the remote and go to the Homepage and select – Settings > Support.

Now, select System Update, and you will find an option “Check firmware upgrade”. Select it and wait for the TV to automatically check whether any updates are pending. If it finds the latest firmware, it will start installing automatically.

The power supply board might be faulty

If you have tried and tested all the above solutions, then the only reason left behind the blinking red light is a faulty power supply board. You need to open the back panel of the TV and notice whether the capacitors are:

    • Leaking
    • Have a bulge at the top
    • The bottom of the capacitor is out of its place
    • There is a corrosive layer on the capacitor.

All these are signs indicating that you need to remove and replace these capacitors.

However, if none of the above-mentioned signs are visible, then to find the accurate answer, you can connect a multimeter to check the voltage. Compare the reading with the labeled voltage of the capacitor.

There might be no visual sign of a damaged capacitor, but an incorrect reading of the multimeter can be a clear indication that you need to remove the faulty capacitor. So, replace them with one that has a good rating and is compatible with the temperature, voltage, and microfarads. It is usually recommended to leave it to the support team to carry out the replacement process.

What does the red light blinking on Hisense TV indicate?

If the red light blinks 2 times on your Hisense TV, then there must be a faulty backlight. If it blinks 4 times, then there can be internal circuit damage. If it blinks 6 times, then there is a faulty motherboard, and if the red light keeps blinking 10 times, then it indicates a faulty power board or defective LED strip.
