If you find that the TV is not responding to the remote or the Samsung TV remote is not working, then it’s probably because the batteries are drained. The most common way to resolve this issue is to remove the battery and replace them with a new pair. You must check the compatibility of the batteries, as in the market, a variety of batteries are available. Now, place the battery properly in its place and double-check the negative and positive sides. Finally, try to use the remote to connect to the TV.

If the Samsung TV is still not responding, then let’s get to know about some easy and quick hacks that will help you to resolve the problem.

    1. Perfectly Pair your Samsung TV remote

If you are using a Smart Samsung TV remote, then check whether it is perfectly paired with the TV. To proceed – You need to Power On the TV by plugging in the cables into the power outlet. Then, locate the sensor on the TV and point your TV remote toward it.

Next, you have to hold the Play/Pause and the Return button together for at least 3 seconds, and you will notice a pop-up window will appear on the TV. This will verify that the remote is perfectly connected to the TV. Now, you can use the remote without any hesitation.

    2. Reset the Samsung TV remote

If the pairing fails again, then there might be certain issues in the software of the Samsung TV remote. In this case, resetting would be the best idea so that you can use the remote in a regular manner. Now, the reset procedure might vary based on the Samsung TV model that you are using.

If you are using an old Samsung TV model, then here are the steps that you need to follow:

First, remove the back panel of the Samsung TV remote, and remove the battery very carefully without damaging the springs. Now, hold down the Power button for at least 30 seconds. This will help to reset the remote. Insert the battery accurately in its place and put back the back panel in its position. Finally, try to use the Samsung TV remote.

However, if you are using the latest model, then you have to press and hold the Back and Enter buttons together for at least 30 seconds to reset the remote. Now, you can go through the previous step and try to pair the remote with the TV again.

    3. Reboot the Samsung TV

Often, it has been found that the problem lies within the TV, and due to a minor bug or any kind of issue, it is not pairing with the Samsung remote. In this case, you need to give your TV a reboot which will help it to power cycle or discharge the leftover energy.

To power cycle your Samsung TV, you have to press and hold the Power button on the remote until the TV powers off and then turns on automatically after 10 seconds. Now, if the remote is unable to pair, then press the Power button on the TV for a while, and this will reset the TV.

Do remember when you are power cycling the TV, you must unplug the TV from the power outlet and then wait for at least 2 to 3 minutes before you plug it back in again.

    4. Clean the inside parts of the remote

If you find that any specific button on the Samsung TV remote is not working, then there might be restrictions, such as dust accumulation. So, try to clean the remote’s inside. To proceed, you need to disassemble your remote first.

Remove the back panel of the remote and then the batteries. You can try to flip the remote and slide the back cover down to avoid any damage. Next, you have to take a flathead screwdriver and remove the screws to have a look at the internal parts of the remote.

After removing the top cover, you will be able to view the buttons. Check whether there is dust accumulation, then clean it. Now, take a flat-open tool and run it down the seams until you run into a clip holding the top cover. You have to put some pressure to separate the cover. You will hear a clicking sound to indicate that the clip is undone.

Keep repeating this process until all the clips are removed and the cover slides right off. While you are cleaning the buttons, notice the plastic strip. Verify whether it is loose or not and whether any buttons are coming off. If you notice the presence of grease, then you need to clean them with warm water and soap. Use a clean cloth, dip it in this mixture, and then rub it along the buttons. Do not put too much force on the keypad buttons. Remember that the water should not touch the circuit board. You can use a cotton swab to clean the circuit with alcohol.

Now, you have to put back the side covers as well as the back panel and the batteries in their exact position. Make sure the remote is completely dry before you assemble it, and keep it aside for at least 30 minutes before you start using it. Otherwise, it might lead to a short circuit.

    5. Update the TV software

If you have not updated the TV software for a long time, then your TV remote might fail to pair with your Smart TV. In this case, to fix the scenario where your Smart Samsung TV remote not working, you have to update the TV software.

To proceed – Go to the Settings of your TV and look for the Support option, click on it, and it will navigate to you a new window. There you have to look for the option Software Update and select Update Now.

The TV will automatically search for available software updates, and if something new is available, it will get downloaded automatically. Now, wait for the download and installation to complete, and do not disturb the process, as it might corrupt the software. Your TV will automatically restart to save the changes.

However, to update the TV and go through the setting, you need help from the remote. Now, in this scenario, if your Samsung TV remote is failing to connect to the TV, then you can use the Samsung remote control app on your phone as a temporary alternative.

    6. Replace the HDMI cable

If you find that your Samsung TV remote is not working, then it is probably because of the HDMI switch. So, try to reconnect the HDMI cable or use a different one if this seems to be damaged. You might also have to replace the HDMI port if the new HDMI cable fails to connect.

When you are reconnecting the HDMI cable, check the main sources and plug the cable exactly into the HDMI port. Notice whether the connection is loose. If the HDMI cables are frayed, then get a suitable alternative or replacement, and in case the HDMI ports are damaged, you need to contact customer support.

    7. Replace the Wi-Fi module

If the Samsung TV remote is still not working, then the problem might be associated with the Wi-Fi module. You need to locate and replace it. This can be the primary reason why the Samsung TV remote and the TV are unable to connect.

Usually, the Wi-Fi module is connected through an infrared sensor and power button. If the Wi-Fi module fails to connect or becomes defective, then the TV becomes inaccessible to the remote. So, while you are replacing the Wi-Fi module, always get a compatible one and do not go for cheap replacements.

Can a Universal TV Remote control help to connect with Samsung TV?

Yes, you can get a Universal TV Remote control that supports every TV model and won’t create any problems with the connection. This new remote needs to be set either manually or using Bluetooth connectivity, based on the brand. So, always check the user manual for pairing the Universal Remote control. Alternatively, you can get a Universal Remote control app on the phone from the Play Store. But, do check the compatibility before installing.

Can you control the Samsung TV with a remote control app?

Yes, you can control the Samsung TV with the remote control app, which you have to download on an Android phone. This feature is not available for iPhone users, but if you are using an Android TV, then go for it.

Why does the Samsung TV keep switching sources?

If the Samsung TV keeps switching input sources, then you need to restart your TV, remove the batteries from the Samsung TV remote, deactivate the Auto Input features, relocate the wireless infrared devices that are placed nearby, and then try to check whether the problem still exists.
